Cairo, Egypt, 30 October 2022: Majid Al Futtaim, the leading shopping mall, communities, retail and leisure pioneer across the Middle East, Africa, and Asia, has announced Mall of Egypt’s latest partnership with Baheya Foundation in light of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Partnering with the first hospital in Egypt specialised in the treatment and early detection of breast cancer, Mall of Egypt hosted a 2–4-kilometre charity run seeing a total of 1,500 participants who contributed to the greater cause at the mall on Friday, October 28. The run aimed to promote breast cancer awareness and highlight the importance of early detection.

The initiative also included Baheya Foundation placing a booth on ground at Mall of Egypt, where visitors received a voucher providing them with a free-of-charge check-up at the foundation within seven days – expediting the regular 30-day wait. Visitors were also able to donate at the booth to support the breast cancer cause and empower those affected.

Throughout the run, Baheya Foundation also drew attention to the opening of its newest hospital, located in Sheikh Zayed City.

Rasha Azab, Managing Director, West Region Shopping Malls at Majid Al Futtaim – Properties, commented: "We couldn’t be more proud to have joined forces with an organisation that is ultimately at the forefront of alleviating the suffering of and providing a healthier future for thousands of women across the country. At Majid Al Futtaim, we are thrilled to have brought this partnership to life and inspired our community through a shared purpose and sentiment of making a real difference.”

Azab further added: We hope to continue spearheading such meaningful conversations and to shed light on how we can all work together to do more in our fight against this disease. This serves as a reminder that driving positive change is one of our core pillars and at the heart of our mission.”

Laila Salem, Baheya’s granddaughter and a member of the Board of Trustees, stated: We are always keen to participate in such events because of their charitable goals that benefit the community and support Baheya’s fighters, in addition to the fact that running is a key sport when it comes to protecting one’s health. This, in turn, serves Baheya’s message in raising awareness of the importance of early detection and treatment of breast cancer, as well as supporting the health of Egyptian women in general.”

Salem added: “Baheya remains committed to eliminating waiting lists. Currently, we are working on installing the equipment at Baheya Sheikh Zayed, the soon-to-open hospital that aims to welcome nearly half a million women annually. We are extremely grateful for the role Baheya’s supporters can play in helping us complete this facility, in order to continue supporting with early detection and treatment of every woman without waiting lists, providing the best service in terms of excellence and international medical standards.”

Mall of Egypt also extended an invite to breast cancer fighters and survivors from Baheya Foundation to spend Saturday, October 29 at the mall and take part in activities at Ski Egypt and VOX Cinemas free-of-charge.
